Aa Gale Lag Jaa is a 1973 Indian Bollywood drama film released on Nov 16, 1973. The film is directed by Manmohan Desai, produced by Salim Merchant.

Prem (Shashi Kapoor ) who belongs to a poor background , with only his mother in family. One day Prem falls in love with a beautiful & rich girl named Preeti (Sharmila Tagore), a medical student & only daughter of Seth Hirachand (Om Prakash) .Soon they develop a liking for each other. Prem meets Preeti's father to get his consent for their marriage. But Preeti 's father disagrees as Prem is from a poor background and according to him, with no future. So her dad destroys their relationship by lying to prem & creating misunderstanding between them. Prem goes away, even Preeti leaves with her father. Meanwhile Preeti gets pregnant with Prem 's child. In orders to keep this secret from friends & for fear of losing face, Seth Hirachand sends his daughter to his nursing home. Coincidentally, during delivery Prem reaches the nursing home & takes away his chld from Preeti's dad by accepting his condition to stay away from Preeti's life. On the other hand, Preeti is informed that her child is not alive. Even Prem's mother (Sulochana) passes away. Now, Prem has become a skating master, teaching children & grown-ups. Prem 's child is named Rahul who is crippled & ignorant about his mother. Will Preeti be able to know that her child is alive ? Will the misunderstanding between Preeti & Prem be resolved?

A rich girl and a poor boy are not allowed to unite because of her scheming fathers machinations, which create misgivings between the two. He wants her to marry a well-placed doctor. The father replaces a child born jto her from her lover and makes ber believe that she had given birth to a still-born. The disabled child ultimately succeeds in uniting his parents.
