Aadhe Adhure is a 1996 Indian Bollywood film released on 1996. This is the story of some representatives of this generation, who are raising their voice against the tradition of child marriage. These representatives are themselves victims, or about to become victims of this black social tradition. . Gauri after completing her education in the city, returns to the village and wishes to persue her journalism career by doing village-based stories. On arrival in the village, she comes to know that her uncle, who has looked after her, is himself a victim of child marriage. He has brought home his wife Rupawati, who is a dwarf. Her uncle had been married to Rupwati when he was 3 years old. . Gauri makes child marriage the main theme of her writing. She also tries, but not with much success, to talk to the villagers about the evils of child marriage and to stop child marriages taking place. . Dr. Sanjay, who stays in the village, and Gauri meet, and Gauri meet and their friendship soon takes a turn towards love. Dr. Sanjay himself is carrying on a campaign against child marriage. . On the same day that Sanjay proposes marriage to Gauri, she comes to know that she is already married, while in the cradle itself. Her husband, Bhawarlal comes to claim her. Bhawarlal is an uneducated, traditon-bound villager, Gauri an educated modern young girl, independent with a mind of her own. Must Gauri accept this marriage? Must she too remain incomplete-Adhe Adhure? . In this tense and totally unexpected turn of events, the news is brought to Bhawarlal that his sister has become a child widow and that her-in-laws are forcing her to go sati. . Bhawarlal, Gauri, Sanjay, uncle prevent this illegal sati taking place Bhawarlal is so affected by Gauris action and speech that he gives up all claim to her, convinced that a marriage between children who are undeveloped physically, mentally and emotionally is not a real marriage.
