Aao Wish Karein is a sweet film with a simple story that reminds of Tom Hanks 1988 film ‘ Big ’ with a refreshingly revised screenplay. 12 year old Mickey's life was almost like a fairy tale, a beautiful family, best buddy 'Bonnie' and his angel on earth – Mitika (Aamna Shariff). But one beautiful day Mickey's fairy tale gets shattered into million pieces. It was the day he realized he was an adopted child and his 23 year old angel Mitika called him a 'Kid'.

Understandably, this one's BIG for Aftab Shivdasani. He turns producer with Aao Wish Karein. Now that may be a step in the right direction, but the end product doesn't turn out to be a fairy tale debut for the daring actor. And that's because the film fails to decide its core audience. Is it a kiddie's flick or is it meant for the bada log? If so, there's too much of the baba log in the film (the children's track is too long) and too little of the adult stuff

It's very hard to refute that Aao Wish Karein is more than inspired by the Tom Hanks' movie Big. However, unlike Big, which held appeal for adults and children, this film will clearly only appeal to audience members below the age of 10. Perhaps if the child actor playing 13-year-old Mickey, who wishes he were suddenly grown up so that he could win over the town beauty Mitika, was cuter viewers of all ages might have been lured into his fairy tale world.

Every kid imagines what it would be like to be an adult. He wishes he could grow up quicker. Of course, once he grows up, a small part of him wishes he could go back to his childhood days. Quite an irony, isn't it? There's a line in AAO WISH KAREIN that goes, 'If you want to be a part of a fairy tale, it's important that you believe in it [fairy tale].' The statement is applicable for everyone desirous of watching AAO WISH KAREIN.

About time filmmakers stopped second-guessing kids by making films they think children would like, instead of taking the trouble to find out what they indeed want to watch. Aao Wish Karein, inspired from the Tom Hanks-starrer Big, is the kind of film its misguided makers seem convinced kids will enjoy. Good luck with that, considering it's a painfully predictable, sickeningly romantic, unfunny film that talks down to kids as if they're stupid little creatures

Aftab Shivdasani is stuck in a time warp. He thinks he's still the teenager from Masti, but we disagree. It's over a decade since he played that role. In Aao Wish Karein he goes further back in time and decides to play a 12-year-old Mikey who wants to grow up and romance Mithika (Aamna). His friend Hitchcock (Lever) is a Jack Sparrow meets Javed Jaffrey kind of a genie making his wish come true. If you thought that this would be the end you are mistaken

A twelve year old wishes with all his might that he becomes big. A shooting star passes by overhead, and presto, miserable Mickey becomes a six-footer with bulky biceps and other bulging parts. ‘Aao Wish Karein’ has been clearly influenced by Hollywood hit, ‘Big’, but Aftab Shivdasani has none of the ineffable charm that Tom Hanks brought to his small-big boy part. Being a childlike adult credibly on screen is a toughie

Josh, 35-year-old in appearance, but mentally a 13-year-old, finally manages to get the girl of his office dreams over to his swanky apartment. The first thing he says to her as he reaches the door is, he should get to be on top. The girl’s a little taken aback by that audacity. Only later does she realise, he meant, sleeping on the upper berth of his teeny bunk-bed. She gets the lower bed. They play on the trampoline for most of the night.

Week after week, critics lament the lack of original work in Bollywood. But after watching Aao Wish Karein, an agonizingly boring rework of Tom Hanks' Big, I wished that the makers had been less original and copied more diligently. Like in Big, here too a troubled 13-year-old boy wishes that he were big and wakes up to find that his wish has come true. Mickey, played by Aftab Shivdasani who has also co-written and produced the film
