Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani with director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba have created a successful franchise, and there is ample scope to make a Fukrey 3, but this time, we hope it doesn’t take them four years to do so.

Fukrey Returns is one super-entertaining movie. Retaining the magic of the first part, this easily is one of the best comedies of the year. Tiger also plays an important role in the film so yeh Tiger Zinda Hai jab tak aa jaaye Tiger Zinda Hai.

Bad breath gets a bad name in “Fukrey”. But it’s all in good taste. Circumscribing a world of chit funds, bodypart smuggling, animal poaching and French kissing, the wickedly anarchic world of Fukrey Returns is much smarter and far more intelligent than it outwardly seems. This is a world of rapidfire happenings where what goes around doesn’t necessarily come around.

The film funnily takes you back to the first Fukrey with few moments which are refreshing to watch. However, the twist in this one could have been executed in a better way, but it won’t disappoint you either. Spend your weekend with ‘Fukrey Return’s as it gives you a reason to laugh out loud.

FUKREY RETURNS is a fun, clean film that works despite the illogical and slightly unconvincing plot. With no other significant Hindi movie in theatres around, FUKREY RETURNS definitely has a chance of excelling at the box office.

Despite its flaws, Fukrey Returns falls short only when compared to the first part. As a stand alone film, it manages to keep you engaged throughout with some really funny scenes that will have you rolling on the floor. If you are looking for some comic relief, this is the film that you should head to.

Fukrey Returns delivers what it promises. The comedy is well timed and the performers ensure that the desired effect is achieved. Varun Sharma carries the entire film on his shoulders and he gets great support from Pankaj Tripathi and Richa Chadda. The real surprise element is Rajiv Gupta. Pulkit Samrat and Ali Fazal come across as weak links. Having seen Fazal deliver a memorable performance acting opposite Academy Award winner Judi Dench in Victoria & Abdul, it’s really heartbreaking to see him squander away his talent like this. Fukrey Returns is quite funny but it’s not exactly a laughter riot and it’s so because of its slightly longish run time of 140 minutes. But if you have a taste for this brand of comedy then there really is no reason to complain.

That I don’t have to recommend the film to you just due to lack of Bollywood film options this week should tell you what you need to know about Fukrey Returns! While it would really add to your experience if you have watched Fukrey, but even if you haven’t, you can still go and enjoy a few laughs in this funnily mad entertainer. PS: Choose friends over family for this one.

Watch Fukrey Returns if you like but don’t expect the spark of the original. Plus, the giggles are more like a reminder of the original Fukrey and nothing more.

Where most members of Fukrey Returns are as superfluous as its new, blah soundtrack, the whimsical troika of Sharma, Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi do their best to lift its plodding pace with their distinct brand of humour. But even the cub couldn’t suppress his yawn. I am only human.

As the film unravels, it gets as clumsy and annoying as Varun’s character. I laughed a bit and was interested for a while on how they would manage to arrange the money they needed, but eventually I was too bored to even care.Watch it if you must. You wouldn’t really regret it if you even give this one a miss.

Making up for some blatantly juvenile word-based humour is the film’s electric editing. As the spoken words land with a sickening thud, the smooth cuts between characters whose expressions build off each other find those jagged gems of comedy in the murky landscape of this film.

The situations are so tired and contrived there’s nothing that even such capable hands as Richa Chaddha and Pankaj Tripathi can do, to retain our interest.

Fukrey Returns is a tedious 141-minute watch which is unfunny, unintelligent and repetitive.

All good things come to an end so that they aren’t stretched and made bad. Perhaps they should listen to the advice of their own creation Hunny who says “Yeh aukaad ka zamaana hai”. Not risking another Fukrey unless they have a amazing trump card up their sleeves would be a step in that direction.

Make a film around Sharma/Chuchcha, if you wish, Mr Lamba. If you do intend to bring back the rest of Team Fukrey in a third venture though, please remember not to neglect them as you have done in this one. The consequence of that neglect is that Fukrey Returns is funny but its gnawing hollowness is impossible to ignore. It may as well have been a stand-up comedy show headlined by Varun Sharma instead of a film.

The trouble with sequels is that they need to take the story forward or put the protagonists in a new setting. Fukrey, the original mayhem was fun because the protagonists were losers and yet they had a knack of getting out of trouble. This film alas has none of the original humor, the jokes seem forced and out of really bad whatsapp forwards, the characters have no redeeming qualities and despite a bigger budget the story seems forced.
