Amrish Puri is a Actor and also worked as Singer, Director. Amrish Puri has mostly worked in Hindi and has worked in languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, English.
He was known as ‘Mogambo’. He was born on 22 June 1932 and he died on 12 January 2005. He is the leading theater and film actor. He was born in Lahore, Punjab. He has siblings Chaman Singh Puri, Madan Puri, older sister Chandrakanta and younger brother Harish Singh Puri. He is known for his role in the film ’Mr. India’ as Mogambo. He completed his education from B.M. College, Himachal Pradesh. He has mostly portrayed the negative roles in the movies. He has won the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1979. He has worked in Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Hollywood, Punjabi, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. He is known for the role in the film Gandhi (1982) and as the main antagonist Mola Ram in Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. He also did theatre for Prithvi theatres. He did over 400 films. He first did ad campaigns and later after this, he started appearing in the movies too. He won Maharashtra State Drama Competition, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Theatre, Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, Meri Jung, Maharashtra State Gaurav Puraskar, Sydney Film Festival, Best Actor Award, Singapore International Film Festival, Best Actor Award, Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor, Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, and Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor.
