He was born on 19 November 1928 and he died on 12 July 2012. He was an Indian wrestler-turned-actor. He was also nominated as the member of Rajya Sabha. He has worked in Hindi and Punjabi movies. He worked as a film producer, director and writer, and he acted on film and television. He was born in the village Dharmuchak. He was 6 feet 2 inches, weighed 127 kilograms (280 lb) and had a chest measurement of 53 inches (130 cm). He was known as the Pehlwan of his village. He then started wrestling in melas and many functions. He started acting in films with the movie ‘Sangdil’. He was a stuntman in the film ‘King Kong’. His pairing with Mumtaz became hit. So, he did 16 movies and became the highest paid actor of bollywood. He did the role of Hanuman in the epic Ramayana and then he had an increased fan following. He also did many television serials like: Hadh Kar Di, Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa and many others. He worked with Prithviraj Kapoor in movies like: Sikander-e-Azam, Khakaan, Lootera, Daku Mangal Singh and Insaaf. He also directed many Punjabi movies like: Sawa Lakh Se Ek Ladaun, Nanak Dukhiya Sab Sansar, Dhyanu Bhagat, Rab Dian Rakhan. He was also the owner of Dara studio, Mohali. He got married twice.
