She is an Indian actress. She is also a producer. She was born in Dehradun. She was then shifted to Canada. But, she was in India after she came to Canada. She was an ex-student of National School of Drama, New Delhi. She was then involved in the theatre. She then collaborated with Govind Nihalani and made her debut with the 1984 film Party. She got married to Ketan Mehta. She acted in many movies like: Hero Hiralal (1988), Maya Memsaab (1992) and Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India (1995). She wrote the screenplay for Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India, Hum (1991), Ek Doctor Ki Maut (1991), Aar par. Her last produced movie was: Mangal Pandey: The rising. She was nominated for’ Filmfare award’ for the best supporting actress. She was also given award for Maya Memsaab. She has also produced 12 TV series.
