He was born on 25 September 1939. He died on 27 April 2009. He is an Indian actor, film editor, producer and director in the Hindi film industry. He was known as the Clint Eastwood of the East and a style icon in the industry. He did more than 50 films. He became hit with the film ’Qurbani’. He also directed the movie. He won ‘Filmfare award’ for the movie Aadmi Aur Insaan in 1970, and was presented the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. He was born in Bangalore. He completed his education from Bishop Cotton Boys' School, Bangalore and St. Germain High School, Bangalore. His first hit movie was Oonche Log (1965).He then did many movies like: Samson, Ek Sapera Ek Lutera, Chaar Darvesh. He also did many other movies like: Khote Sikkay, Geeta Mera Naam, Pyasi Sham, Shankar Shambhu and Safar. Amongst this, his hit movies were: Upaasna (1967), Mela (1971), and Nagin (1976). His last movie was’ Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (2005)’. He last appeared in the movie’ Welcome (2007)’. He married Sundari Khan who is Fashion Designer.
