She made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Dayamayudu’. She had worked in the classics such as Raja Chinna Roja , Dharmadurai, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Panakaran, Thevar Magan, Ooru Vittu Ooru Vaanthu, Rickshaw Mama etc. She had worked with many famous Tamil actors such as Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth, Kamalhassan, Prabhu Ganesan, Arjun Sarja, Karthik Muthuraman, Arvind Swamy, Ramki,Murali, Sarath Kumar Rahman , Sathyaraj and Ramarajan. She is married to businessman Sandeep Bhatia in 1998. The couple has a daughter Subbulakshmi born in 1999. Later the two got separated and she was in a relationship with Kamal Hassan.
