He was born on 2 April 1983. He died on 23 June 1990. He was an Indian English poet, a dramatist, an actor, also a political leader from Vijaywada constituency. He was the brother of Sarojini Naidu and was also a revolutionary. He was born in Hyderabad. He was a Bengali brahmin and was born to Aghornath Chattopadhyay. He was a scientist-philosopher and educationist, and his mother was Barada Sundari Devi. She was a poetess and singer. He completed his education from Edinburgh University, settled in Hyderabad State. He was interested in music, politics and theatre. He got married to Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay who was a Socialist and leader of Women. He was the recipient of Padma Bhushan in the year 1973. He also recited his poem ‘Rail gadi’ on the All India radio. Then this song was sung by Ashok Kumar and it became a massive hit. He also acted in the film ’Bawarchi’ which was a blockbuster.
