He was born on 24 November 1935. He is an Indian actor and screenwriter. He is the father of Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. His second wife is Helen. He was born in Indore in the Central Provinces and Berar. His father was a police inspector. His mother died when he was young. He earlier got married to Sushila Charak. She is a Maharashtrian. From her, he had four children: Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Alvira Khan. Then after divorcing his first wife, he got married to Helen. They adopted Arpita Khan. He was noticed by director K. Amarnath at a wedding function. He was very happy with his looks and he asked him to come to Mumbai. After this, he was given Rs 400 a month and then he has acted in many movies. His film work includes: Teesri Manzil (1966), Sarhadi Lootera (1966) and Diwana (1967), in small supporting roles in total 14 films till 1970 and in 1 more in Wafadar (1977). He got success from the movies like: Andaz, Haathi mere Saathi, Sholay, Zanjeer and many others. He also wrote script for 10 movies like: Naam, Kabzaa, Toofan, Jurm, Akayla, Patthar Ke Phool, Mast Kalandar, Aa Gale Lag Jaa, Majhdhaar, Dil Tera Diwana (1996).
