She won the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Comic Role in 2003 and 2005. Her roles in the movies like: Vijeta (1982), Bazaar (1982), Masoom (1983) and Mirch Masala (1985). She is married to Pankaj kapoor. After she got married, she took break for few years and then got back to acting. She then appeared in movies like: Wake up Sid and Ramleela.
