This is the high award ceremony for excellence in Telugu cinema, Telugu Theater, Telugu Television, and Lifetime achievements in Indian cinema, presented annually by Government of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Nandi means ‘bull’ and its name has been kept after a cultural and historical symbol of Telugus. The award has been presented in four categories like: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Copper. Then the Nandi Natakotsavam Awards for Theater is also given every year by the government for social, mythological and poetic dramas. The state panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in Hyderabad, where in the Chief Minister gives away the awards. The eligibility criteria is very different. The criteria in this is very different. The films should be produced by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana films. There are still many criteria that needs to be filled. The film should also be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification between January 1 and December 31. The main objective of the film is to encourage the production of films in Telugu language with high technical excellence and aesthetic values bearing cultural, educational, and social relevance and also promoting the integration and unity of the nation. The Awards given in this category are : feature films, feature films on national integration, children’s films, documentary films, educational films, and books/articles on Telugu cinema in Telugu language for the best films, producers, directors, artistes, and technicians. The Awards are given in the form of Golden Nandi, Silver Nandi, Bronze Nandi, and Copper Nandi in addition to medals, cash prize and commendation certificates.
