This is one of the prominent awards which was being presented in many different languages. This award is given in seven different languages like: Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu. The second National film Award was presented on 21 December 1955. This award was presented with three different awards like: "President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film", "Certificate of Merit for the Second Best Feature Film" and "Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film" were instituted.
