Aaina is a 1993 Indian Bollywood drama,family film released on Jun 18, 1993. The film is directed by Deepak Sareen, produced by Pamela Chopra under banner named Yash Raj Films, music composed by Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen.

Aaina is a story of two sisters. Roma Mathur (Amrita Singh) and Reema Mathur (Juhi Chawla) who fall in love for the same guy Ravi Saxena (Jackie Shroff). The sisters have opposite personalities. While Roma is confident and blunt, Reema is shy and sensitive. Ravi however fall's for Roma and they decide to get married. Reema is heart broken by this development. Roma pitches Ravi on the day of their wedding for a modelling career. Ravi marries Reema instead and as they are setiling down in their relationship Roma comes back she tries to steal Ravi from Reema by seducing him with her charm. Will Ravi succumb to her tactics? Will he leave Reema for Roma? Will Reema's love win over Roma? This development forms the remaining part of the movie.


Aaina is the story of two sisters who unknown to each other fall in love with the same man. Roma, the more confident and ambitious one captivates Ravi and brings him home to meet the parents and have the match approved. Reema realising that Ravi and Roma are involved quietly moves herself out of the competition and hiding her sadness joins in the festivities of her sisters marriage. . But Roma in her typical fashion of losiong interest once she has got the man has set her silights on more than marriage and living the rest of her life as Mrs. Ravi Saxena. One published photograp of hes gets top photographer interested in her. He encourages her to have a photo session done against the wishes her ofer fiancee. Roma easily gets convinced that she has a glorious career ahead of her in fashion and films and ditches Ravi at the "mandap". She leaves a note behind telling Ravi that she is confident that he will wait for her. But the producer will not wait so she will come back as soon as the movie is over and get married to him. Reema and the rest of the family are stunned and look to Ravi for his reaction. They are further shocked when Ravi controls his feelings and instantaneously decides to marry Reema instead. Reema seeing the man she loves in pain cannot refuse him and agrees to the marriage. . Reema and Ravi start their marriage under a cloud but slowly Ravi discovers the true worth of Reema, and she in turn blossoms under the attention of the man she loves and from a shy, timid and self effecting young girl grows into a beautiful confident woman. . But life is not all roses and wing and just as their marriage was to become a beautiful reality, Roma comes back into their lives. In her supremely selfish way she forgets the pain she caused Ravi and Reema and the family by running away on her wedding day. Instead she accuses Reema and Ravi of stabbing her in the back and walks out of Ravis house cursing with life long unhappiness for being unfaithful to her. Reemas uncertainities surface again. All her life she has lived in the shadow of her sister and given to her. The teneous bond between Ravi and Reema is stretched thin again and they are back in their seperate bedrooms with Romas almost plpable presenese like a wall between them. . But Roma has no intentions of giving up just with curses. Her allenation from her family and an attempted suicide and her relying on Reemas and Ravis marital home as an invalid and the peaceful life Ravi and Reema comes to an end. Roma makes blatent play for Ravi apparently Ravi succumbs to her manipulations - but only apparently - he soon realises the shallowness of Roma and her so called selfish love for him is only a decoy to suit her ambition and inborn jealousy of her sister. Ravi makes Roma realises all this and compels her in realising her mistakes and she finally apologises to her younger sister and admits her misdeeds. The lovers Ravi and Reema are finally reunited.
