Abhimaan 1973

Abhimaan is a 1973 Indian Bollywood drama,musical film released on Jul 27, 1973. The film is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, produced by Pawan Kumar.

Subir Kumar (Amitabh Bachchan ) is on his way to becoming a famous pop singer. He wants to make big in his career and has no intention of getting married. But when he goes to his Durga mausi, he falls in love with a religious, simple girl Uma (Jaya Bhaduri ) by whose voice he is enchanted. He marries her and returns to Bombay, when he announces that he will never even sing without Uma. He encourages her to sing and her popularity is soon greater than his own and the seeds of jealousy begin to grow. She sings for herself and he sings for the public . This causes problem later. A time comes Uma understoods this and stops singing altogether. They stay separate for some time. She is psychologically affected...doesn't smile, talk, say anything. Then with lot of love and understanding Subir makes her sing ( with Doctor's advice ) with one of his old songs. It a happy ending.
