Abhinetri is a 1940 Indian Bengali film released on 1940. The film is directed by Amar Mallick.

"Abhinetri" is actress Mohini Sen (Satabdi Roy)'s biography. Mohini is a struggling actress who gets a big break opposite numero uno Siddhartha Kumar (Tota Roychaudhury). Together they form a formidable pair and the movie becomes a blockbuster. After this, the duo act in several films together as leads and all the movies are superhits. Siddhartha and Mohini fall in love with each other. Everything seems right for success but soon the picture changes. He begins to heckle and insult Mohini. Mohini realizes this and tries to make amends. But all goes in vain. Siddhartha starts avoiding Mohini and in a fit of anger Siddhartha marries the crooked Elizabeth and gets involved in a disastrous married life. Her mother proves to be a greater threat and mother and daughter continuously ridicule Siddhartha on his character and work. Siddhartha gets fed up and realises his mistake. He returns to the dejected Mohini. Meanwhile luckily for Siddhartha, he gets a chance to work with Mohini again. The entranged lovers meet and make up. Mohini gets pregnant. When she comes to know about her pregnancy, Mohini thinks about the result of her tarnished image & slits her wrist though she is ultimately saved. There mohini is rescued by the supportive and humanist producer Pritam Roy (Abhishek) who marries Mohini and gives Mohini’s daughter a proper childhood. Though Mohini resides with Pritam, she can't forget Siddhartha. Mohini and Pritam can never form a happy couple. Mohini quits movies after her marriage. She starts having differences with Pritam. Their daughter grows up to be a confused lady who fails to understand the truth behind her mother’s frustrations. Meanwhile the depressed and dejected Mohini turns alcoholic. Amidst all this, Pritam undergoes a severe heart attack and passes away. Mohini runs into further depression. Simi decides to follow her mother’s footsteps and become an actress. Mohini revolts in vain. At this juncture Simi discovers the entire love episode between Mohini and Siddhartha. She realizes how her mother’s entire life was shattered. She reveals her own identity to Siddhartha. Simi quits the movie offer. At this point the divorced Siddhartha returns back to Mohini. The three come face to face at Mohini’s residence and the truth is revealed. Siddhartha apologizes for all his mistakes and confesses his love for Mohini and Simi. In the end all the enstranged individuals re-unite.
