Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Abichar (1981)


Abichar is a 1981 Indian Bengali thriller film released on 1981. The film is directed by Biswajeet, music composed by Usha Khanna.

The story of the film revolves around Debnath, a poor villager working as a priest who lives with his wife, sister and a daughter. He can't earn enough money for his family. One day he saves the life of Pradesh Mitra who offers him a job in Calcutta. Debnath goes to Calcutta as a manager of Mitra's company but latter he comes to kow that Mitra is a smuggler. He threatens Mitra that he would report to the police. Mitra's men trap Debnath badly - they set fire to Debnath's house, rape and murder his sister. Debnath's wife and daughte Rakhi are able to escape from the fire. The police arrest Debnath for smuggling. The judge punishes him for a few years, but Debnath escapes from jail and becomes a big smuggler. He changes his name and his chief agenda is revenging Mitra. Once he achieves that Debnath comes to know that his wife and his daughter are still alive. Rakhi loves Uday and Uday is the only son of Mitra. Debnath does not want to give Rakhi's hand in marriage to Uday. But when he sees that Uday is totally different from his father, he comes around. During the marriage ceremony Mitra and Mallika get into heated exchanges, but once Debnath comes to the forefront, Mitra confesses his guilt in front of everbody. The police arrest him but the police also arrests Debnath for his smuggling business.
