Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Agaman (1988)


Agaman is a 1988 Indian Bengali drama film released on 1988. The film is directed by Tarun Majumdar, music composed by Hemanta Mukherjee.

This story revolves around Binu and Chandra. Binu, a young naughty boy is always upto mischief. He is scared only of his elder brother. Chandra, a young girl belonging to a rich “jaminder” family is a good friend of Binu's. One day when Chandra’s mother becomes very ill, Binu and Chandra decide to go to a temple and pray for Chandra’s mother. But it gets dark by the time they return much to everybody's ire. Binu is forced to leave the village but Chandra never forgets him. A nomadic theatre group finds Binu lying on the ground, senseless. They take care of him and nurse him back to health. Shyama of the theatre group loves Binu like her own brother. Binu stays with the group and becomes an important actor of the group. One day Shyama attempts a suicide and this makes Binu leave the group and resort to begging on trains. However Shyama has survived and she is seen by Chandra’s uncle who he takes her with him. Chandra’s uncle arranges a marriage for Chandra, but Chandra can’t forget Binu. Chandra’s uncle tells Chandra to marry his uncle’s boss’s son Boren much to Chandra's chagrin. Binu in the meanwhile is in a state of delusion and is spotted once more by the theatre group. There Binu sees Shyama and he starts to speak again. Binu also sees his elder brother and his family. Everybody is happy to get him back. Chandra is also happy to see Binu who recognises his childhood love. They return to each other's lives.
