Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Agnikanya (1990)
The film revolves around Mamata and Goutam who had taken a liking for each other the very first time they met, but were unable to convey their feelings. In the meanwhile, Mamata due to financial constraints is misled by a friend to a red light area. But she is able to escape from there. Later she gets married to Goutam. They have a son. Meanwhile Goutam's father becomes a victim of an incurable disease. Huge medical expenses cause a financial crisis.. It causes friction between the couple and they drift apart. Finally out of sheer desperation he requests the doctor for euthanasia but stops short realising it to be the greatest sin to kill one's father. However the father is found to be dead due to the injection. Goutam is arrested and Mamata accuses him of killing his own father. In court a lawyer is able to save Goutam from death penalty. It is concluded that his father unable to bear his pain and his son's plight had himself administered the lethal injection. His fingers having bandages did not leave any finger prints on the syringe. The estranged couple reunited.
