Agnishapath is a 2006 Indian Bengali suspense film released on 2006. The film is directed by Prabir Nandi, produced by Swapan Kumar Saha , music composed by Abhijit Dasgupta.

Ajit singh is the leader of a nightguard party in a town in Punjab and lives with his wife, son and daughter. One day he and his party members catch a truckload of weapons and hand them over to army. The terrorist leader Wyakat who was transporting those weapons plans and kills Ajit, his parents and his wife and takes away Ajit's daughter. Only his son, Jeet is saved as he was not at home. Jeet takes an oath to kill all those who have destroyed his family. He goes to Kolkata and grows up to be a garage mechanic. He fights relentessly against those who want to remove the slum in which he is staying. One of them is Shekhar, the son of an influential political leader, Gobinda Samanta. One nigh Jeet helps a young man, Indrajeet, to fight a bunch of goons. They become friends. He receives a letter from a girl called Raina though the letter was actually addressed to Indrajeet. He however goes to meet Raina and hiding his indentiy they start a relationship. Later Raina goes out of Kolkata and while returning she again sends a letter to Indrajeet and this time Indrajeet meets Raina. Raina turns hostile towards Jeet on learning the truth. Once in an attempt to rescue a famliy from the goons Jeet is wounded. He staggers to the doorstep of a singer and faints. The singer, Bijli, is none other than Jeet's long lost sister. Jeet is hospitalised and Bijli takes care of him. Raina forgives Jeet and visits him. Raina's elder brother is Inspector Proloy Shankar Burman. Once Gobinda Samanta tries to bribe him but fails. Shekhar attacks and fatally wounds Jeet. Bijli saves her brother's life by donating blood to him. Jeet goes to release Bijli from her cursed life. They escape. Liyakat chases them and in a bid to kill Jeet, kills Bijli. Jeet puts Liyakat to death for which he is sentenced to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment after which he is united with Raina.
