Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Ahuti (1941)


Ahuti is a 1941 Indian Bengali drama film released on 1941. The film is directed by Dhirendranath Gangopadhyay, music composed by Hariprasanna Das.

A couple travelling by boat with their only child suddenly gets drowned in the river. The mother is lost in the stream. The father tries to save the life of his son and can swim up to the bank of the river. The wife of a fisherman starts bringing up the child without informing anybody.The name of the child is Uday. Uday's friends are Batasi, Bhola, Ekkori. Ekkori is the son of a money lender of that village. Bhola likes Uday. Batasi is the best friend of Uday. Twenty years later Uday is a young man. Batasi is a famous beauty. Ekkori succeeds his father. He doesn't like Batasi's affection for Uday. It is soon revealed that Uday's mother is not dead. She goes to find her lost son and finds him in the fishermen's village. After twenty years mother and son are united. Uday becomes a rich person. His new frienda are Rini, Pallav, Utpal and Seema. Pallav organises a show with Uday's past life as the central theme. Incidentally Uday is the chief guest of the show. Eversince Uday has left the village Bhola has found no interest in any work. Batasi is married to Ekkori. Bhola leaves the village in search of Uday and finds him in the dance -drama show. Uday comes out of the show. Bhola requests him to go back to the village. Coming back to the village Uday finds that everybody in the village is perturbed by Ekkori's attitude. Uday establishes a co-operative bank and gives everybody a loan without interest to save them from Ekkori. Ekkori starts thinking of taking revenge. Batasi comes to know about Ekkori's conspiracy against Uday. She goes to warn him. Not finding Batasi Ekkori is so angry that he sets Uday's hut on fire. Uday requests Batasi to go back to her house but Batasi refuses. She dies in the flames of the fire.
