Aleya 1943

Aleya is a 1943 Indian Bengali drama film released on Mar 05, 1943. The film is directed by Nabyendu Sundar, produced by S. R. Hemad under banner named New Century Productions.

While Dr. Roy, the superintendent, was showing different rooms of the mental asylum to Mrs. Bose, a patient in that hospital became surprised seeing Mrs. Bose. Mrs Bose denied to Dr. Roy the fact that she knew the patient. Then Dr. Roy told story of that patient. Sekharnath while driving back home heard a cry of a child. He stopped the car and found that a little girl was crying besides the dead body of her mother. The name of the girl was Meena. After the funeral of the dead body Sekhar brought the child to his own house. Sekhar had no one except his aunt and her daughter Laxmi. He handed over the charge of Meena to his aunt. Meena grew up and became very famous. Sekhar couldn't understand whether Meena loved him or not. So, one day Sekhar told Meena that he had selected a match for her. Meena didn't reach to it. Sekhar understand that Meena had a feeling of gratitude towards him, not any love. Meena thought something else. She thought why then Sekhar picked her from the street? So she decided to leave. She didn't want to stay as a burden. Returning from office Sekhar found Meena's letter. Meena had requested him to forget her. He couldn't bear that. Rushed out in search of Meena. He couldn't find Meena and he became mad. He was then brought to that mental asylum. The asylum had tried to cure him by staging Chitra, an known girl, as Meena. Consequently Chitra fell in love with Sekhar. Mrs Bose could not resist herself hearing the story. As she knew she had already lost Sekhar, and a new Meena was there to take care of him. Actual Meena had a necessity three anymore.
