Amargeeti is a 1984 Indian Bengali biopic film released on 1984. The film is directed by Tarun Majumdar, music composed by Hemanta Mukherjee.
Srimoti loves her singing teacher Nidhu. But Nidhu fails to realise it and Nidhu's friend Mahanda becomes fond of Srimoti and falls in love with her. But Nidhu's ignorance provokes her to go with Mahananda. She becomes a singer and dancer but she no longer enjoys her profession. One day Nidhu and Srimoti have an altercation when Nidhu slaps Srimoti. Mahananda then senses that their can be some internal relationship between them.He decides to teach them a lesson. But Srimoti sensing this commits suicide and eternalises their friendship.
