Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Anjali (1988)
Allahabad born Biswajit Chakroborty is a religious man and a devotee of Goddess Kali. One morning he meets Bhawani Chatterjee, who comes every morning to Dakshineshwar Kali Temple. Bhawani Chatterjee invites him to see his house and temple. In Bhawani's house everybody believes in God, except his daughter Anita. Dipak is Anita's lover. Dipak and his father's intentions are to capture the vast property of Bhawani by marrying Anita. But sensing the evil intentions Bhawani does not approve of this marriage and marries off Anita to Biswajit. Anita refuses Biswajit from the first day of marriage and insults him every now and then. Realising his daughter's nature Bhawani transfers his property and bank balance to Biswajit. Anita makes a trip to their tea garden accompanied by Bittu. There she falls in love with the manager Abhijit and wants to marry him. When Biswajit comes to the tea garden Anita introduces him to Abhijit as the care taker. Bhawani's letter reaches Abhijit through Bittu and he comes to know everything. Abhijit tries to unite husband and wife but fails. Anita gets angry with her father. Bhawani Chatterjee dies. Now Biswajit is the owner of his property. He gives Subhra's father Rs.1 lakh in the name of Anita for her marriage. Dipak tries to kill Biswajit and kidnap Anita. Abhijit and Bittu protect them. At last Anita starts believing in the power of Goddess Kali.
