Aradhana 1969

Aradhana is a 1969 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1969. The film is directed by Shakti Samanta, produced by Shakti Samanta under banner named Shakti Films.

Vandana & Arun fall in love at first sight. Out on a visit to a Shiv temple, they get married in front of God. When they get started, they get stuck due to rains. They make love. Just when their marriage was about to take place....Arun, who is an Airforce pilot is called on duty. On duty, his plane crashes. While dying he makes Vandana promise him that she will make their unborn son also an Airforce Pilot. Vandana has the baby in another town. On the advice of her doctor, she leaves the child in a orphanage and goes to adopt the child legally the next day. But fate play a cruel hand and the child is adopted by Ram Prasad Saxena and his wife. Vandana meets Ram Prasad and explains her story. He tells her to work as a nurse maid in his house to she can be close to her baby and she can give the child Suraj, a good upbringing. His wife does not know about Vandana's story. When Shyam, Ram Prasad brother-in-law molests her, Suraj tries to protect her and kills Shyam. Vandana takes the blame on herself and goes to prison for 12 years. When she comes out she stays with the Jailor, as his sister. The jailor's daughter Renu loves Suraj who is also an Airfore pilot. When Vandana sees him she recognises him as her son but does not tells anyone one when Suraj sees his childhood photograph with Vandana and Vandana and Arun's photo he realises the recret of his truth. When he is awarded the Airforce award he adressed Vandana as his mother on stage and all her life's sacrifice is rewarded

The musical romance that launched Rajesh Khannns career as a major star backed by the singing voice of Koshore Kumar and Burmans music in a formula that would become a typical 70s entertainer including Sharmila Tagore in the female romantic lead. - Arun (Rajesh Khanna), an Air Force Officer, secretly marries Vandana (Sharmila Tagore) who bears him a son. Arun dies in air crash. Vandana is rejected by Aruns family as his legal wife. To safeguard her sons honour, she decides to let him be adopted by a childless couple while making sure she is responsible for raising the child by becoming his nanny. - She devotes rest of her life to raise the son to become an Air Force pilot like his father. Rajesh Khanna plays both roles of father and son. - Remembered mainly for its music with e.g. Mere Sapnon Ki Rani and Kora Kaagaz. The films best known song Roop tera mastana (sung by Kishore kumar), was picturised in a single 4 take as the drenched heroine clad in a blanket succumbs to the heros sexual advances after a sexual encounter in the next room has been shown in silhouette.
