Arundhati 2009

Arundhati is a 2009 Indian Tamil thriller, suspense thriller, horror film released on Mar 16, 2009. The film is directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, produced by M Shyam Prasad Reddy under banner named Mallemala Entertainments. A simple tale splendidly told, the story begins with Jekkamma (Anushka) who rules the Kandarva Kottai area many years ago and true to her title, she is brave, kind and very warm to her people. However, there is a evil in her home in the form of her own brother in law Pasupathi (Sonu Sood) who is a major womanizer and does not even hesitate to sleep with women in front of his wife. Unable to bear the torture and humiliation, Jekkamma's sister commits suicide and enraged by his wrongdoings, Jekkamma gets him beaten to death and leaves him in the jungle. However, the revenge element in him keeps the spirit awake and he is rescued by the Agora sadhus. There, he learns all the black magic and becomes a powerful dark lord. He comes back to take revenge on Jekkamma by having her physically but then she succeeds in trapping him and buries him alive, she builds a divine wall using amulets and yantras. Times change and the present day comes with Arundhatee (Anushka) being considered the reincarnation of Jekkamma. She is due to get married but then the evil sorcerer begins to use his charms and spells to break free from the live burial. Finally, he succeeds and comes to Arundhatee to have her. She is helped in fighting him off by Anwar (Sayaji Shinde), the Muslim fakir. However, that is not enough since the villain is too powerful. Is Arundhatee successful in killing the black magician?
