Balidan 1990

Balidan is a 1990 Indian Bengali drama film released on 1990. The film is directed by Anil Ganguly.

Usha, a village girl is in love with Jayantha. Her father accepts this relationship & wants to get her married to Jayantha. Jayantha's elder brother Sumantha is already married, but is jobless. He finally manages to get a job, but he has to deposit twenty thousand rupees. His father cannot arrange the money & tries to steal the money from the locker of his current boss. Jayantha saves him, takes the blame on himself & goes to jail for three months. Sumantha gets the job. His father becomes ill & paralysed. Before his death, he manages to know the truth about his wife, Jayantha's mother. Usha's father arranges her marriage with some one else. On her wedding day, Jayantha returns from jail & decides to sacrifice his love. Sumantha & his wife decide not to let Jayantha enter the house. So Sumantha tells him that his mother does not want to see his face. Jayantha returns back. Usha tells everything to her would-be groom & he acts as a lunatic on the wedding stage. The marriage takes place, Usha goes to her maternal uncle's home in Calcutta. He promises Jayantha's mother to find out about Jayantha. In Calcutta, Jayantha gets a job in a factory which runs on loss. Sumantha, his wife and son move to another city. His mother is all alone now but she becomes happy when Jayantha sends money to her. Jayantha is now very busy. Sandhya, his factory owner's daughter falls in love with him. Usha comes to know about this. Sumantha takes his mother to his house when he comes to know about Jayantha's money & starts to take all the money from her. They try to stop Jayantha from coming to her & treat her like their maid. Sumantha borrows money from Ekkari Mahajan and his wife takes the signature of her mother-in-law to mortgage their ancestral house. In a party Usha sees Sandhya dancing with Jayantha. At the same time Malay comes to know about Jayantha's past. Jayantha's mother returns back to her village. Malay makes a conspiracy against Jayantha, but Jayantha is able to win back the faith of his Boss & Sandhya. Sandhya takes him to Usha, Jayantha comes to know that she is still unmarried. They come close again & return to their village. He returns the money of Ekkari Mahajan & meets his mother. At the end, he comes to Sumantha's house & is penitent. Jayantha's mother tells him everything about his father. There is truce amid tears.
