Queer are the ways of Fate. One never can tell what is in store for him to-morrow? The ne Bank Manager, Balraj who took over charge of Banks Lucknow branch deemed his transfer a normal routine. He being a man of sociable nature soon became friendly with his clients and Rangeen his Khazanchi and a poet in his own rights introduced him to Thakur Ranbir Singh, the local big shot. The latter hoisted a party in his honour. It was here that he met Ameeta Naaz who was also a poetess. Being a responsible executive he forgot all about the party and Ameeta who by her tempting looks held him spellbound that colourful evening. Once the work was over, he made a base-line to his house where his darling son and charming wife Sudha greeted him with a broad smile. More than anything in the world, he loved his wife and son. . As the luck would have it, Sudha to leave the town to see her ailing mother at Agra and she also took child with her. Balraj now felt lonely, especially in the evening, when the work was over. One evening Tripathi the local police officerand Balrajs erstwhile class-fellow took him to a Mushaira where he again met Ameeta and at the end of the gathering, she gave him a lift to his residence and become too familiar to be avoided. Balraj soon found himself entangled in her charm. Although, of dubious reputation, Balraj even accepted to visit her at her residence. Balraj didnot suspect it for a moment that it a booby-trap ! Ameeta drugged him and removed the keys of the safe from his person. . But that was not all. Goes an old adage Misfortunes do not befall began singly but in co-horts. When Balraj was himself again at the dead of night, he found Ameeta lying in a pool of blood. She had been murdered by an unknown assasin. He rushed home in panic. Next morning more bad news awaited him. The bank had been looted and chowkidar murdered ! On top of it the clients had lost faith in the bank and they assembled in the premises to demand payments of their deposits. Amidst such horrifying incidents, his wife returned only to receive the stuning news of Balrajs involvement in murder and Bank robbery.
