Bhookh 1978

Bhookh is a 1978 Indian Bollywood social film released on Jan 01, 1978. The film is directed by Dinesh, produced by S. I. Shivdasani.

Thakur Harnam (Amjad Khan) is the rich landlord of Dhangaon. For generations Thakur family oppressed the villagers. Laxmi and her husband are both killed by the Thakur. Kernal saves their two daughters Asha & Reena (Reena Roy). When they both grow up they come to know how they became orphans.But the opression of the Thakur continued. Thakur's son Chota Thakur Ranjeet (Ranjeet Om Shiv Puri) comes from the city as also Sarju's son Ajay (Shatrugan Sinha). He is a doctor. Ranjeet kill one villager at the time of horse riding & Thakur says to Ranjeet to tell sorry to villager. Ranjeet tries to kill Ajay, Reena saves him and they fall in love. Ajay checks all the ill villager, all are ill because of food. Ranjeet goes to rape Asha but Reena save her. After Ajay's father dies, he decides to take up farming. Ajay takes up Thakur's challenge to farm a barren land. He asks for help from the villagers but on one comes forward to help him apart from Reena, Asha their uncle. But after villagers start to die one by one while in working in Thakur's farm & all the villagers decide to help Ajay. At the time of holi Thakur by to fight in villager with Muslim villager but he fails. They mix with each other & become united, with the help of all villager Ajay do farm. In other side Thakur's haweli happy thing happen that Ranjeets wife is pregnant. But Bhikhu take medicine from Vidya that destroy Ajays farm. But Asha sees them & take this medicine & run but in this process Thakur's man kills Asha & run & Asha is successful in saving the farm & she dies. The villagers decide to build a dam on the river, Ranjeet tries to destroy the dam. Ranjit's wife come to Dr.Ajay. that to save Ranjeets wife & his son. Here BIkhu leave Ranjeet & he shoots Bikhu. Can Dr.Ajay save Ranjeet's wife & son ? Can Ranjeet destroy the dam ? Can Bikhu tell villagers that Ranjeet is going to destroy the dam ? Can villager save dam ? What happen with Ranjeet ?

Clash between the old feudalistic Thakur and the new socialistic youth who want to change the villagers plight of getting their daily bread at the cost of their rights. Leading the villagers and the youths is Dr. Ajay while the adamant son of Thakur, Ranjit, blocks the transformation.
