Story
A story set in a village backdrop where Rajasekhar plays the role of a village chieftian. His role gradually takes shape from youth to middle age and in the process the story unravels the ordeals and upheavals that he took in his stride, at the same time commanding the respect of the surrounding villages. Dr. Rajasekhar is cast as the head of a village. He has a doting dutiful wife (played by Meena). His word is law in the surrounding villages. There is another rich landlord in the village, (played by Sathyanarayana) and Meena is his sister. In the neighbouring village, there is a lecherous man (Raj Kapoor) who is rich and arrogant. In a Panachayat decision involving him, Rajasekhar goes to that village to deliver his judgement. Accidentally, on the way, he saves a woman whom Raj Kapoor has made pregnant, but denies that he is the father of the child. The woman in an outburst of emotion says that she will not tell his child, that he is the father and leaves the place. By a strange coincidence, Meena and the woman deliver babies at the same hospital. Meena gives birth to a stillborn child and Rajasekhar changes the babies and this is where the real drama starts.
