Story

Bombay To Goa is a 1972 Indian Bollywood comedy film released on Mar 03, 1972. The film is directed by S. Ramanathan, produced by N. C. Sippy.

The lives of Atmaram (Nazir Hussain) and his wife (Dulari) are turned upside down when they see their daughter, Mala's (Aruna Irani) pictures in a magazine. They arrange for Mala's marriage with the son of Ramlal (Agha). Mala is opposed to marrying anyone who she has not met, and is at the same time thrilled that the two persons she trusted, one Sharma (Shatrughan Sinha), and the other Verma (Manmohan) had actually submitted her pictures to a magazine, and were now willing to sign her up for a Bollywood movie. Mala is not able to understand her parents' opposition on her way to fame, and runs away from home with a lot of money and hands this money to Sharma and Verma. Greed overtakes Sharma and Verma, leading to the death of Verma. Mala, who witnessed Sharma kill Verma, now is on the run for her life. She boards a bus from Bombay which bound for Goa. Sharma soon overtakes her, and has one of his armed men on the bus to kill her. And then arrives Mala's admirer Ravikumar (Amitabh Bachchan), who not only protects Mala, but also accompanies her throughout the journey. Mala starts to trust and subsequently fall in love with Ravikumar. The bus journey is adventurous with the passengers, a totally mixed bunch, from all over India, different religions, cultures, and faiths, all thrown together for this journey. The funniest is the character played by Amma and Appa's (Mukri) son, who will do anything to get his hands on "pakoras". The bus is in the "control" of driver Rajesh (Anwar Ali), and conductor, Khanna (Mehmood).

Bombay to Goa bus journey is full of thrills, chills, belly laughs delightful romance of a runaway young girl aspiring to be a film star and her chivalrous boy-friend and driver cum conductor team. - The bus was drawing out of Bombay Central on the scheduled run to Panjim, Goa, but before the driver could let out the clutch, Aruna came running up and asked the conductor to take her abroad. Her entry inot the bus was greeted with many admiring glances, for it was not often that such a beautiful girl took this bus-and that too alone. . Aruna may have been alone on the bus, but those who were vitaily interested in her movements had been, momentarily left behind. Shatrughan and his crontes did not wait long to follow in their car. . Nor was Shaturghan the only person keenly interested in Aruna. A youngman had already sensed the danger that was lurking on the road from Bombay to Goa, and he had gone a head to catch the bus midway. He was Amitabh, playboy son of a rich family whose path had crossed Arunas in a posh Bombay restaurant. Crossed her path was right. Aruna believed that Amitabh had tried to pick up her up, and she was indigannt whom he took a seat next to her on the bus. . Goa is 616, Kms. from Bombay, and every much of the way, when you travel in a bus with Mahmood as the conductor, is brimful with thrills chills belly laughs, and for good measure-delightful romance. Every time the bus pulls up, you are in for a big surprise-person you know so well, a shock you were not prepared for, a song you have been humming for weeks on end-excitement that you least expert.
