Well mounted with good production and technical values, the film has an inexplicable gentleness to the narration, very characteristic of Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It will appeal to the emotionally inclined.

Broken Horses is a stellar attempt by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The story is simple, but with the grandeur of Hollywood. If you are into crime thrillers, Broken Horses can be an easy watch this weekend.

For those who haven’t watched Parinda, Broken Horses could perhaps be a moving, serious watch. But for those who have already been blown away by Chopra’s original, Broken Horses pales in comparison…

Broken Horses comes across as Parinda, with non-Indian actors. But then, while Parinda was a brilliant film, given its context and milieu, this one doesn’t impress as much. Watch it if you’re keen on seeing what the first Hollywood film written, directed and produced by an Indian filmmaker is like. Else, hire a DVD and re-watch Parinda.

My review of Broken Horses (2015) by arjama.kalita

An English movie by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, about two orphaned brothers, Buddy Heckum and Jacob Heckum. The story shows the bromance between Buddy and Jacob. Jacob is a music lover and Buddy protects his brother from the cruel world and sends him to New York to pursue the former's music interest. It is an emotional drama showing the love and care between the two siblings. It will attach you to the character of Buddy depicting two sides, one being emotional and loving, and the other being strong and fearless. It was set in the Mexican border. The scheme of the movie is not that good. Also, the movie focuses very less sub-plots. The Parindey director, comes out with something original though. The screenplay and the dialogues deserves a round of applause. It makes up for all the cons of the movie. The emotional, sensitive people out there, this is the movie for you. Go watch it!
