Chandni Chowk 1954

Chandni Chowk is a 1954 Indian Bollywood family drama, drama, family, social film released on Jan 01, 1954. The film is directed by B. R. Chopra, produced by Heera Singh under banner named Hira Films.
Chopras first hit is a costumed musical melodrama addressing Musilm feudal orthodoxy. The nawab Safdar Jung (Kumar), anxious about preserving his aristocratic lineage, turns down a proposal by the scheming Ibrahim Beg (Jeevan) that the nawabs daughter Zarina (Kumari marry Yusuf (Agha), the rich son of a former vegetable vendor. Beg thenn tricks the nawab into letting Zarina marry Akbar (Shekhar), a gardners son. Later, when Safdar Jung realises he was tricked, Akbar is forced to leave home and goes to Cario where he meets a dancer, Noorie (Biswas), who later dies. The film is best remembered for Meena Kumaris performance, esp.the scene where she writers to her missing husband singing Aa jaye jane wale (sung by Lata Mangeshkar).
