Charitraheen is a 1974 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1974. The film is directed by Shakti Samanta, produced by Debesh Ghosh.

The story is about rama who coincidentally meet indrajeet & eventually fall in love with each other, this comes to know her step-mother & she decide to marry rama with an man who is having two children. Rama now tries to tell indrajeet throught various mean but indrajeet moves home due to circumstances leaving behind letter. After few years. Coincidentally. Indrajeet meet rama but in mental status & her husband is goon & womaniser & drunkayard & had stolen. Indrajeet mony by unfair ways. Rama gives him suitcase fall of her jewellery &tries. To suicide but indrajeet saves her & takes her to his home where his mom dislikes her & send her off to banaras train without knowing to indrajeet. Indrajeet fears as rama is also pregnant. After few years indrajeet becomes a successful businessman & rich & marrys kamala as per her mom. Suddenly her mom is no more & they shift to a bunglow, no his business is getting expand & tries to inculcate his younger brother debu but he is not at all interested in business, but interested in lecturership. Due to this he recruit. Kamala brother avinash for a job was helpless & poor & leaves for a contract meeting to other state where he again meet rama but in different style & personality named rosy, as high class call girl. She illustrate whole story to indrajeet behind. This turning point & tell him to adopt her girl who's in hostel other way the kamala's brother avinash has stolen the company's money without any proof. Kamala misunderstand her husband due to circumstances & starts thinking that her husband is womaniser & using money in wrong way. After highly melodramatic sence kamala realise her mistakes & understand rosy values. Now rosy aka rama leaves daughter to indrajeet so that her daughter can live happily with same & name of indrajeet & more far away.

She requests him to adopt her daughter who stays in a hostel. Avinash runs off with money stolen from the company. Kamala misunderstands her husband and suspects that he is a womaniser. Later Kamala realise her mistake and help Indrajeet to adopt Rama's daughter.

Is a heart -rending story of an unfortunate girl and a honest man and their starcorssed love. The circumstances in her life force the woman to become a call girl. The man, through virtue of his honesty, becomes a big industrialis. Their chance meeting creats suspicion in the mind of his wife and almost threatens to blow up their marriage. They fell in love with each other-but unfortunately, their illuck seperated them, before they were reconciled. . Second time, Indrajeet met Rama, but now she was a married lady-wife of Ajit-who was a cheat and drunkard. He had duped Indrajeet and robbed his money and drove Rama out of his place with charge as a debauch. Indrajeet brought Rama to his house, but his mother did not like her, because Rama was preganant and she managed to sed her to without the knowledge of Indrajeet, when he came to know that it was too late. . After that Indrajeet got married with Kamala-sister of Avinash. Time passed and Indrajeet became a very big industrialist. . The third time Indrajeet met Rama at a big hotel of Delhi. She was a famous call-girl now. Indrajeet heard the pathic life of Rama-relised the mental state and agony of her and became sympathetic about her. Both of them came in the tie of friendship again. . When Indrajeet scolded Avinash about the management in the factory, Avinash spread out evil about Indrajeet and Ramas pure friendship and made dirty comments about their moral. This time not only Indrajeets wife Kamla-but his brother Debu also misunderstood him-they called him a "Charitraheen" and all left Indrajeet.
