Story


Chhadmabeshi is a 1944 Indian Bengali comedy,drama,family film released on Jan 15, 1944. The film is directed by Ajoy Bhattacharya, produced by Deluxe Pictures under banner named Deluxe Pictures.

Prasanta Basu, the barrister of Allahabad, needed a Bengali driver. He wrote a letter to Calcutta to send him a good driver. His brother-in-law Haripada said that it would be impossible to find such a man. His sister-in-law Sulekha said that it was difficult to send a man even if you were able to find such man. At last Sulekha's husband Abinash went to Allahabad in disguise of a driver Gourhari. But neither Prasantan or his wife Labanya had never seen Abinash again, so they thought that it was Gourhari. So the film started. Sukekha came to Allahabad after a few days. Both Labanya and Prasanta enquired about why Prasanta had not come. Simingly Sulekha replied that he would come later. Gourhari and Sulekha went by a car to see the Allahabad town the same afternoon. While returning from High Court Prasata was suprised to see Sulekha and Gourhari close in the car. He started doubting Sulekha. Abinash's classmate Binoy Sen, a professor of Allahabad, joined Abinash in that fun. One day he came and informed Prasanta that Abinash had written him a letter that the character of Gourhari was not good, so Sulekha should not go out with him alone. The same night Abinash came into Sulekha's room to discuss the end part of the fun-drama, and intentionally dropped his handkerchief was marking 'G', the initial of Gourhari. Prasanta realised that there was a little left for a juicy scandal. Immediately he sacked Gourhari. Consulting with his friend Binoy both Abinash and Sulekha left for Kanpur. At that time news came that Haripada was coming to Calcutta with Abinash. Prasanta become nervous. But actually Subimal, brother of Binay's friend came to Allahabad. The fake Abinash came and without staying at Prasanta's place put up n Binoy's place. Subimal fell in love with Binoy's maternal sister Bandha. Binay's Latika did not know the truth. She thought Abinash, being a married man, was a debunch. So another fun game started. It was known that in the meantime, Abinash was going to Bandha. Both Prasanta and Labanya become anxious Gouhari and Sulekha came back from Kanpur. The same day the marriage of was to be finalized. Everybody rushed to Binay's house to stop that marriage. At last it was revealed that Abinash was actually Abinash. So everything ended happily.
