Jogin, a poor school teacher, had brought up an orphan Tomato as his nephew. But now suffering from the deadly tubercolosis, he decided to gamble with luck to see if a better home could be found for Tomato. Teaching him what to do, he took Tomato to the park. Kunal, a rich man’s son soon got off his car to sit on a bench. He was joined by his friend Rabin. The two discussed about Kunal’s numerous affairs and his father’s ultimatum to marry the rich but obese Lata. Rabin left as Kunal sat and thought. At Jogin’s signal, Tomato endeared himself to him. When Kunal left, Tomato called his father and followed. At Kunal’s vehement request and attempts to leave, a threatening a crowd gathered. Kunal was forced to take Tomato under his wings. All subsequent efforts of Kunal to escape failed as tomato turned out to be too smart for him. Kunal took Tomato to Miki, his ex girl friend now engaged to be married to Monty. Despite initial protests, Mili agreed to keep Tomato for the night. Kunal taught Tomato to call Mili mother before he left. Tomato obediently followeds Kunal’s instructions despite Mili’s threats. Kunal decided to marry Lata for her money. He got Tomato admitted in a children’s home and leftf Mili’s address over there instead of his own. An infuriated Mili called Kunal to inform him that they had failed to keep the naughty Tomato and left him at her home. Her fiance Monty, whom Tomato had disliked at first sight, charged her of being Tomato’s mother. The engagement was promptly dissolved. Circumstances led Kunal to keep Tomato in his own house. His parents asked him to prove his claimed innocence and at the same time, got attached to Tomato. Following an advertisement to find Tomato’s parents, Mili came to Kunal’s father to claim Tomato as her own. Kunal claimed the child as his. Following a hot argument, Kunal’s father declared that Tomato would stay in the house as his grandson and Mili and Kunal were his parents. They would have to stay there under his auspices. Reconciliation between Kunal and Mili sealed their long, hidden love for each other.
