Story


China Town is a 1962 Indian Bollywood action film released on 1962. The film is directed by Shakti Samanta, produced by Shakti Samanta under banner named Shakti Films.

In picturesque Darjeeling lives a young singer, Shekhar, with his widowed mom, who is in love with the only daughter, Rita, of wealthy Ral Bahadur Digamberprasad Rai. Rai does not approve of Shekhar and wants his daughter to marry a wealthy Calcutta-based businessman named Chowdhry. Rita asks Shekhar to get a better position, but Shekhar is quite satisfied with his singing career. So Rita and her dad relocate to Calcutta, and Shekhar follows them. An enraged Rai complains to the police, who arrests Shekhar and hold him for questioning. It is here that Shekhar secures employment with the police as an undercover agent to impersonate his look-alike, a China Town gangster named Mike, who is being held by the police, but refuses to divulge any information. Shekhar accordingly takes over Mike’s life, but there is one thing he and the police overlooked - namely Mike - who has escaped from police custody and is on his way back to reclaim his life.

Shekhar and Mike were twins, seperated in childhood, but fate brought them together in China Town. Shekhar was a cabaret entertainer ...... Mike a gangsters aide. Shekhar met fell in love with Rai Bahadur Digamber Prasads daughter Rita at Darjeeling -an affair which shocked the girls aristocractic father, but he could not shake off the enthusiastic youngman. Shekhar followed the family to Calcutta, and as a result was arrested when he stole into their house to meet Rita. . The police were astounded to find and amazing resemblance between Shekhar and gangster Mike. They realised that they could utilise Shekhars sevice to expose the criminal racket rampant in China Town But if the twins were identical in all respects, there was one man they could not fool. Shoemaker Ching Lee discovered that Shekhar wore a difference size of shoes.... ones foot could not lie.... and so Shekhar could not be Mike. The news spread like wildfire thought China Towns green underworld.... There was an imposter in their midst.... and mystery and excitement of "CHINA TOWN "high tension drama suddenly exploded amidst the brilliance of high adventure that was too blow of the deepest mystery lurking amidst China Towns darkest shadows.
