Daawat-e-ishq is not a film to miss this weekend. For me, Aditya Roy Kapoor is the show-stealer in DEI. A delicious watch.

The movie is clever and fun for the most part. Yet, as you step back for a second, you realise this is a contemporary ‘Muslim social drama’, and it is about lower middle class..

Flavors of love! The film Daaawat-e-Ishq had many delicacies deliciously all spread in a single ‘thali’. The film starts with a mix and match tale of legal laws in a single segment. Let’s see what the movie has stored in for you. The film starts with the introduction of ‘Gulluu’ who is brought up by her father in Hyderabad. She hails from a Muslim family. Since ‘Gullu’ is in her final year, her father decides to get her married before he get retired. Her father is in service in a high court in Hyderabad. So he brings many matches for ‘Gullu’ but all of them demand dowry in return. So, ‘Gullu’ decides to use the ‘dowry act’ against her would be in-laws in order to fulfill her dreams. So one day, she convinces her father about the same and the duo executes their planning part from Lucknow. It is after this, she registers her name in a matrimonial site for marriage with a fake identity and fake name as ‘Sania Habibullah’. But it is after this, she and her father searches for a groom from whom they can get heavy theft. Then in the picture comes Taru (Aditya Roy Kapoor) who is the owner of a famous hotel in Lucknow. He has customers coming from all over India. So, he impresses her and even she starts falling for him. But somewhere she forgets that she is getting married to him only for the sake of getting money in order to fulfill her dreams. So, immediately after the wedding, she ditches him and seeks all the money. But somewhere she feels cheated to him. So, after getting back to her place she gets to know that she is in love with him and decides to return the money to him. But here in Lucknow, Taroo gets very frustrated and he comes to Gullu’s place, Hyderabad. The end is shown how both of them meet at railway station and how Gullu confesses her love for Taroo. The film ends with a successful conclusion. Talking about the performances, Parineeti, Anupum Kher has made strong impact in the movie. Tarik Haider aka Taroo (Aditya) shines throughout the film as a Lucknowi Nawab in the film. The film has many soothing songs without which the film couldn’t have succeeded without these beautiful compositions. The film has a great cinematography. Parineeti has excelled in her Hyderabadi tone and body language. This film was a debut film of Karan Wahi who had fitted correctly in the shoes of a ‘Chocolaty boy’ image. The film’s locations such as Hyderabad and Lucknow are very beautifully shown. The film hits your heart with great story and great songs. There are many fascinating moments of a father and a daughter’s love. You really cannot miss them. What has added flavors to films is the song, ‘Daawat-e-ishq’ where you get to see many delicacies and foods served to around a troop of 500 dancers.
