A group of hunters who have lost their way find shelter for the night with a widow named Andi who once belonged to their community. In her youth she had fallen in love with Joga, who belonged to a different cast. They left their people to find a future together. Joga finally settled down with Andi on an estuary near the Ganges. While Andi was expecting her second child Joga died of a snake bite. All that Andi was left with was a patch of land in which the landlord and his local tax collector had vested interests. In the morning the crow hunters were helped by Govinda, the local tax collector and were trapped into a plot against the widow. The chief of the group was led to identify her in the court as a member of their tribe and to prove that her patch of land was legally unowned. That same night Govinda's henchmen set fire to Andi's hut. The next morning the villagers gathered around Andi's hut. But what does such violence entail? Will the court of law profit Andi and how?
