It is the underused Purbi Joshi as Himesh’s overbearing girlfriend who steals the show. She imparts a sense of lived-in authenticity to her role, almost at times going beyond the script in search of her character’s lost soul. Why don’t we get to see more of this pretty talented girl in our films?

The irony of Himesh Reshammiya's new film 'Damadamm' doesn't lie in the fact that two attractive women are in love with him here, but that he plays a marketing maverick at a film distribution company, credited with turning one movie after another into box-office hits. The story of this film, although much of it is set at his workplace, has little to do with that improbable job role. At its core, this film has a surprisingly sincere premise

Damadamm attempts to rewrite the rules of screenwriting. No, seriously how do you explain such characters? A man frustrated by his girlfriend's incessant nagging falls in love with a woman who is flawless in every way. The ex's badgering is established early on and convincingly too, so you're left with little sympathy for her. And yet when push comes to shove, Himesh chooses his former love based on a speech and a five-year-old habit, ditching the perfect (meantime) companion!

Ironically, it’s the songs of the film which stand out much more than the script, narrative, drama and performances.

Though the film shows remarkable restraint in certain scenes, it is over-dramatic in others, which kills the flow. The musical interludes, fairly relevant for once, are too many.

On the whole, DAMADAMM isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. Though it has a hit score to its credit and some endearing moments, it will have to rely on a strong word of mouth.

This film has a special song. The hero creates enough excitement in its anticipation. He finally takes the stage. We’ve all gathered at a posh, aiyash party. The announcement begins, “Ladies and gentlemen. Here’s presenting a philosophical research that has been conducted on mangoes, incorporating in it romance, humour and fun. Please give it up for Sameer…” The song goes, “I miss you baby. Like mango. Oh, ho, like mango!” Sameer of course is the lead character

This film actually has a darn good script, if you could excuse the hero for a bit. Just a bit. But how can you? We love you Himace. “Like mango, oh ho, like mango…”

Arey e G.One, be happy with the two days you could rule at the box office. The original superhero is here. The No.One. HR. Who you ask? Don’t you dare make apro Himessss bhai angry. Remember, unlike you, he doesn’t need to come out of a game. He is the game. He is the player. He is the joystick. No, don’t underestimate him just because he blew the Radio last time. Didn’t he warn you at least a month in advance that “this time he smiles!”?

Let’s talk about the story. Your character is in a relationship with Shikha (Purbi Joshi) for five years. Isn’t that too long a time to suffer a “possessive, nagging” girlfriend?
