Just as enjoyable, if not more than the earlier film, 'Despicable Me 2' sees reformed super-villain Gru (Steve Carell) adjusting nicely to fatherhood and domesticity after adopting three adorable orphan girls in the last film. Having given up his crooked ways, he's working towards setting up a jam-and-jellies business, when he's reluctantly persuaded by the Anti-Villain League to team up with goofy secret agent Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig)

The nasty yet likeable Gru with his bald head, pointed nose, striped scar, hunched back and a goofy non-specific accent is back! The reformed bad guy, who chose fatherhood over villainy in the previous 'Despicable Me' (2010), will have to turn into a spy this time around. While the 'Anti-Villain League' wants him to find the guy who's stolen a destructive chemical,Gru's more interested in chasing and keeping his daughter's boyfriend at bay

Being good is boring, being bad is super fun! Despicable Me proved that pure evil has a worldly charm to it. Now Steve Carell is back playing the parrot nosed Gru, however, this time he's in a different mood. After stealing the moon in the prequel, and adopting three orphans, he has turned a new leaf. His devious plans and wicked mind has made way for jelly and jam making. But, it isn't too long before he has to go back to his criminal ways

There’s nothing wildly original here in terms of set ups or plot points, but Carell and Wiig have a winning chemistry, and the Minions – like the penguins in the ‘Madagascar’ movies, and Scrat in the ‘Ice Age’ films – steal the film from right under the nose of its protagonists.

Despicable Me 2 is heartwarmingly entertaining just like its prequel, if not better. More than anything else, the story has a heart. With the world getting cynical by the day, the film provides that much needed sense of goodness.

Kids and young adults are in for a lot of fun because Despicable Me 2 is certainly funnier and more expansive than the 2010 original. Unlike Cars 2, which was made just to sell toys, this film actually manages to offer an enjoyable story. And yet every kid (and even his parent) will crave for a stuffed toy of one of the adorable Minions. Despicable Me 2 picks up a few months after the events of the first film — Gru is now living happily with his kids

In its frantic, Looney Tunes-style madness, Despicable Me 2 brings to mind a cautionary children’s story about an aspiring baker who learns the hard way that doubling the recipe for bread doesn’t mean doubling the baking time. It tries so hard to double your pleasure that it emerges from the test kitchen slightly burned. Like the jams and jellies that its reformed main character, Gru, makes in his new line of work, the film combines too many flavors

Despicable Me 2 may not be as clever or as good a story as the its predecessor, but it’s just so darn cute that you’ll spend all 98 minutes (plus intermission) grinning delightedly.
