Story

Diwana is a 1967 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1967. The film is directed by Mahesh Kaul, produced by Anupam Chitra under banner named Anupam Chitra.
Pyare was a lovable child of nature, and people called him "Diwana", for in the topsyturvy values of this crazy world, is not contentment madness and honesty insanity? . When, into the life of such a man, there stepped a ravishing beauty, sole heiress to untold millions, the makings of an interesting affair were apparent. The girl was Kamini Gupta, eloping to Delhi to marry the man of her choice, Diljeet Singh. Kaminis scheming guardian, Sir Maya Dass, aimed at getting her married off to his adopted son, Inder and indeed the young girl had found herself surrounded on all sides by intrigue immediately after the death of her father. But she could never have imagined that Diljeet himself thought the scion of of a noble and aristocractic household, was no better than the rest of them. . The road was narrow. There was hardly enough room for a flashly convertible to get past Pyares slow bullock cart. And when there was an impatient girl at the wheel of the car, trouble could not be far away. Kaminis car crashed into a ditch and was badly damaged. In her desperate hurry to get on to Delhi and to Diljeet, knowing as she did that her so-called friends and the police were hot on her trail. Pyare was her only possible salvation. She climbed aborad his cart to be transported to the nearest railway station. . Pyare couldnt have been less concerned about Kaminis hurry, and he just refused to be pushed. The offer of a large sum of money as a reward for his services was to no avail, for he was the unspoiled, unsophisticated son of Nature, the undisputed master of his own will and destiny. Kamini was the pampered daughter of a civilisation that was entirely alien to him and she struck a discordant note. By the time they neared the village station, the last train had steamed out. . And so it was, that right in the middle of nowhere, these two young people were forced to keep each others company. As night fell, it was the ethereal music of Pyares lute that soothed Kaminis much jaded nerves. She was charmed by Pyares quanti ways, and the night passed to dawn...the first real sunrise that Kamini had over witnessed . Suddenly Kamini was thrown into the whirpool of a crazy sequence of events...the might in Pyares dreamy village..that dawn that found her almost marrying Pyare by mistake..and then somehow sorting herself out of the most impossible of situations. What a charming couple they made at the sleepy railway station. The modern miss with a youngman from the backdoors to shyly bid her goodbye. Pyare had a smile on his lips, and a tear on his cheek, for there was a real heartbreak in this gentle parting. As ehr train pulled out. Kamini flung out her entire bagful of money to him in a gratitude and remebrance, as she went out of Pyares lif, she thought for ever. . In time, Kamini reached her destination, and her prince charming, but her mind was still dreamy, still pining for the brief interlude she had with "Diwana". Then her pursues caught up with her. Kamini quickly realised that her guardian, her groom-to-be, and all who were around her were only after her wealth and nothing more. How fondly she now remembered Pyare the son of Nature and his divine madness. . At this despereate hour, Pyare again appeared in Kaminis life. "Diwana" and his magical lute had arrived in Delhi. He had come to give back to the fariy the bagful of money that she had left behind. Here truth clashed with flasehood, and soon Kaminis guardian Sir Maya Dass, discovered that Pyare was none other than his own son, whom years ago he had abandoned, as an infant, by the side of his sleeping wife to run away from his village in the pursuit of wealth. The impossible happened....the miracle occured. The insanity of greed and lust was cleansed by the sanity of the man they called "Diwana".
