The last few releases have been low key affairs when we take a look at their overall box office collections. However this Friday the audience is in for a treat with the release of the comedy film DOLLY KI DOLI.After her appearance in the fairy tale story KHOOBSURAT, come this Friday, Sonam Kapoor will be seen playing a runaway bride. While the story of DOLLY KI DOLI follows Dolly (Sonam Kapoor), it begins with her fake brother, Raju (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) identifying prospective grooms, who are eventually duped by Dolly after she gets them to fall in love with her. Once the prospective grooms are madly in love with Dolly, she marries them; however on the night of the 'suhagraat', Dolly offers them 'drugged' milk making them unconscious after which she along with her gang wipes the house clean of all the valuables. On the other side of the law is Robin Singh (Pulkit Samrat), a police inspector given the task of catching Dolly. Does Robin manage to catch up with the runaway con-bride or does Dolly find her true love and give up her life of crime...makes for the rest of the story.

This is one of those rare Hindi films that actually ups the ante in the last few minutes and that’s a pleasant surprise indeed. A pacy screenplay keeps the narrative engaging and some tight editing manages to keep the film within 100 minutes, again a welcome treat. The writing is crisp and the director keeps a firm hold on all his characters, never letting them fly off the rails.

Dolly Ki Doli’s ambiguous, unapologetic tone favours the overall whimsy narrative and its aversion to melodrama…

Watch this one for fun on the run. As long as you’re not light-laugh-lactose intolerant.

Never overstaying its welcome, the film is short and a lot of fun. It’s worth watching for Rajkummar Rao’s excellent performance alone.

Overall, despite glitches that test your sense of logic and actuality, ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ comes across an entertaining film.

Debut director Abhishek Dogra gives us a film that’s an above-average entertainer, with an interesting story and a solid ensemble cast. Worth a watch!

For all its obvious flaws and failings, Dolly Ki Doli is not completely unworthy of the 100 minutes that it demands from the audience.

This premise could have worked wonders, if the director confidently showed the protagonist as the stone hearted, badass woman who cheated men for the pure thrill of it. That Dolly would have been far more convincing than this strange mish mash of a conwoman and Sati Savitri.

Dolly Ki Doli may not exactly be a top-notch entertainer, but it definitely is your best bet this weekend. The plot is funny for the most part and the actors have delivered stellar performances. It has its moments, and surely does put a smile on your face.

Dolly Ki Doli could have been spunkier, funkier and all things better. Watch it only for Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Archana Puran Singh.

Dolly Ki Doli isn’t great but isn’t all the bad either. The story works mostly for the social satire that it is on the national obsession – Marriage. Should you watch the film? Yes, for the idea and some entertaining performances.

I find myself liking a film more than I usually would because of what I didn’t “get” about the film. The only thing I know for sure is I enjoyed the overall concept and felt a liberation of sorts with the way the film ended.

Go for it, for the entertaining performances. Despite the shoddy script and loose strings, this is worth a watch.

You have to be a diehard fan of Sonam Kapoor to watch the film. So that you don’t feel that bad while you drain your money down the bin.

Sonam Kapoor film starts off well, but falls into a familiar trap. Ultimately, ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ is neither biting social comment, nor unfettered fun.

Had the filmmakers worked a little harder, ‘Dolly ki Doli’ would’ve turned into something spectacular. It’s good, but not great.

Left to the pretty faces, a film that could have been a charming caper ends up to be a simple disappointment.

In comparison to Baby, you can give Dolly Ki Doli a miss as you’ll find it to be a big waste of time and money. But if Baby tickets are booked then Dolly Ki Doli will keep you entertained for few minutes.

Decent writing, good performances and an overall well-made film. There’s nothing to complain about the camera work or pacing of the film. But the one area where the movie suffers the most is its music.As far as popcorn entertainment goes, it’s only about the feel-good quality. And on that note, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Dolly Ki Doli.

Though Dolly Ki Doli doesn’t qualify as an awful movie – it’s not tacky and is often funny – it does, regrettably, end up as forgettable fluff and a hugely wasted opportunity.

Dolly Ki Doli is an enjoyable entertainer which will keep the audience smiling/laughing but business-wise, it will prove to be an average fare because of its extremely poor start. Of course, collections will pick up due to mouth publicity, and the additional national holiday on Republic Day (26th January) will prove to be beneficial for the film, but since there are other films slated for release next week, it has only its first week to do the maximum business; and the dull initial will tell on the first week’s business.

Rajkumar Rao and Zeeshan Ayyub show how to do it even in a comedy. Thankfully, the climax is not a cop out but by then one had lost interest in Dolly’s escapades.
