Story


Dosti is a 1964 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1964. The film is directed by Satyen Bose, produced by Tarachand Barjatya under banner named Rajshri Productions.

The only movie in Bollywood Cinema which made a record for the biggest hit without heroine. The breadwinner of the Gupta family "Mr. Gupta" passes away after a serious accident and his wife too kindly embraced death after that incident. Both of them leave a school-going son named Ramnath to fed for himself but he too is handicapped since he is knocked down and run over by a speeding car, losing the use of his left leg. Soon after the death of his parents, Ramnath is thrown out by the landlord on the outskirts of Bombay. Ramnath starves for a couple of days since he has no money but soon befriends a young man of his age. The young man's name is Mohan and is blind by birth. The two friends roam on the streets of Bombay and soon shown some light to begin there new era of life. Ramnath gets admission in a school and Mohan steps out of his life so that he can study. Ramnath achieves success and Mohan meets with his sister "Meena". Both friends finally meet in the end.

The actors of the movie are Sudhir Kumar and Sushil Kumar alias Manu Mishra Gorakhpurwaala mutthal.


A crippled boy (Sushil Kumar) and a blind boy (Sudhir Kumar) become close friends in Calcutta and help each other to survive. They befriend a sick rich child (Farida). Famous for its numerous hit song by Mohammed Rafi including Jaane vaalon zara mud ke dekho mujhe and Chahoonga main tujhe. *.* Man does not live by bread alone; mans life is not complete without love and without friendship. It is the bond of affection between man and man that has contributed to the progress of mankind since time immemorial "Dosti" is the story of two teenage boys drawn together by fate and friendship which is both heart-warming and inspiring. . Orphan lame Ramu searched for a jon and wandered in the street. One day he saw a boy crossing a street unmindful of the approaching car. He rushed and saved the boy only to find out that Mohan was blind. Mohan told him that in child-hood, he had fallen sick and lost his eye sight. He had a sister who had left the village to become a nurse and get him cured. Due to floods he had come to the city in search of his sister. Ramu and Mohan facing the same cruel fate become friends and decide to fight the battle of life together. . One day Ramu was playing a tune on his mouth organ. It attracted some passers by who gave him money mistaking him for a begger. Ramu felt humilated but Mohan consoled him saying that people were paying him for his music. Mohan who had a meldious voice sang and together they made a good team of entertainers and earned their livelihood. . As entertainers they became friends with a rich teenage ailling girl They desided to call her Rajkumari because she looked like a fairy princess. Ramus interest in studies and his promise to his mother that he will complete his studies and become something in life inspired Mohan to convince his friend to join the school again. Mohan promised to raise money. With some difficulties Ramu got himself admitted in the school. Sharmaji a School Teacher finding him a brilliant student, became his god father. . Ramu stood first in the Tenth Standard and won a gold medal. He and Mohan found a room in a Bustee and every day Ramu left Mohan near a hospital where he hoped to find his missing sister. . With all the handicaps trials and tribulations the bond of friendship keeps the faith and trust of humanity alive, because if humanity has to live and prosper with peace smile and happiness.
