Yet another sequel of a well-liked franchise makes it to cineplexes; this one's helmed by Indra Kumar, the King of Melodrama. The challenge evidently lies in making DOUBLE DHAMAAL far more engaging, compelling and amusing than the first in this series. Right from DIL, his directorial debut, to DHAMAAL, his last outing, Indra Kumar has integrated a generous dose of light moments in all his films, irrespective of the genre. And he's got it right most of the times!

On the whole, DOUBLE DHAMAAL is a seriously hilarious movie that lives up to its title — it’s double dhamaal all the way. If you are not looking for wisdom and rationale in a light-hearted entertainer, I am sure you will savor this carnival of claptrap. Sometimes, a good laugh is all you need to make your day. Try not to miss this one, it pledges hilarity in abundance… Carrying a positive vibe and a high degree of expectation, the film is tipped to be ‘hot’ amongst viewers and is likely to embark on a strong initial at the box-office. Here’s hoping that the first half of 2011 closes on a dhamaal note with DOUBLE DHAMAAL.

First things first, part one was better. It was stupid, but it did have lots of goofy humour and fun. The sequel is more stupid than funny, nevertheless there are enough moments to keep the clock ticking. The entire film operates as one extended con game where most of the chaos is kicked up by the loser foursome of Arshad, Jaaved, Riteish and Ashish. It's one of the most dysfunctional bunch of friends in Bollywood, where each seems to be more stupid

This one’s definitely not for the fastidious, choosy viewer but for those who don’t mind losing it for a bit, Double Dhamaal works like an average Bollywood comedy. Performance-wise, it’s one big circus with the guys hogging most of the limelight. The girls — Mallika and Kangana — are mere confetti.

The four no good, greedy guys from Dhamaal are back. Roy (Ritesh), Adi (Arshad), Manav (Jaaved) and Boman (Ashish) are stupid enough to think they can make money without having to go through the usual work-your-butt-off way. They encounter their foe from the original movie, Karbir Nayak (Dutt) and noticing that he has struck gold, they decide to latch on to him. But Kabir has a bigger plan. He is actually trying to con the four fools, with the help of his sister

One more Friday and yet another sequel gets unleashed on an unsuspecting audience. Double Dhamaal, follows four years after the original hit the screens; a quirky comedy made on a low budget, Dhamaal was loaded with crisp, clean humor and minimal vulgarity. Optimism levels are high, director Indra Kumar has a great track record for delivering hits and the plot is already in place. The foundation has already been laid. A clever scriptwriter just needed to build on it

If we go by the last scene of DOUBLE DHAMAAL, DHAMAAL 3 is on the cards. Looking at DOUBLE DHAMAAL, we hope it doesn't happen. Talking about sequels, you will agree that making a sequel is always a challenge. The expectations are high and the comparisons to the original are inevitable. There is a pressure to at least be at par, if not better than the earlier part. DHAMAAL was wacky and hilarious at the same time. Even the characters and their quirky traits

Double Dhamaal is a huge disappointment. Especially for those who’ve seen the first part. And even for those who haven’t. Watch it at your own risk.

In a scene in 'Double Dhamaal' Ritesh Deshmukh, disguised as an older Gujarati businessman, twice whacks Sanjay Dutt in the nuts by swinging his golf club in the wrong direction. Dutt winces in pain. Given the standard of humor in this film, it's a fairly funny scene. And director Indra Kumar knows it. Which is why he throws in another scene in which a gorilla is kicked in the groin. And then another one in which Dutt lines up Ritesh and his buddies and whacks each of them

Two gorillas. One supposed to be real and the other a man in a body suit. But you don’t need a Maneka Gandhi to tell you that both are, in fact, Homo sapiens trying to reverse evolution. Bheegey honth tere plays on the soundtrack. The gorilla guys make eye contact, jump on each other and start locking non-existent plastic lips! If that’s your idea of fun, you will roll on the floor laughing while watching Double Dhamaal. If not, you may also roll on the floor

Okay, so here’s the `Dhamaal’ gang back again with more of the same. We know it’s a different film because of the change in locale, and the girls. What hasn’t changed, however, is the insistence on aiming several of the jokes below the belt, both male and female. To wit : a golfing sequence which is played out a couple of times, with the ball aimed unerringly at the part which hurts the most, giving all the protagonists enough opportunity to practice

To be fair, Double Dhamaal has a few giggle-worthy moments, but you must earn these moments by lasting through endless torture tactics that Indra Kumar unleashes on you. These include mediocre gags, garish songs and Kangana Ranaut.

Yes, you laugh at some instances but when you’re expected to turn off your brain and relax to a nice guffaw fest film, you know you’re heading the wrong way if your brain switches on again.

At least a decent Hollywood film (It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World) inspired the first part. This time round the four jackass characters do forced impressions of Bollywood stars in what can only be equated with a mimicry items that you might’ve seen at a function organised by your local Lion’s Club chapter. So you’ll see Javed Jaffery playing SRK from My Name is Khan and Riteish Deshmukh trying to do an Aamir Khan. There is even a continual track of Jaffery and Aashish

The filmmakers were possibly busy scoring a tax-free contract to shoot in Macau. Dialogue writers were giggling over their rhymes in every other line, pun on every second word. The editors were paid to keep their trap shut. Whining women (Kangna Ranaut, Mallika Sherawat) were picked up for pretty posters. Male actors then were naturally left to somehow figure their way through this mess.
