Karan (Shashi Kapoor) works in a circus as a trapeze artiste, loves his brother Vishal (Rishi Kapoor) very much. He lies to Vishal about working in the circus and tells him that he is a big businessman. He works very hard for Vishal’s higher studies and stable future. Once, Vishal gets a scholarship for further study in USA, he also needs the money for the ticket. Karan gets included in a robbery with help of Ravat (Ranjeet), but they deceive Karan and murder Gulab Chand, father of Neeta and leave Karan with no money. Also Karan loses his legs in this incident and gets trapped in the murder case. Vishal comes to fact that his brother is not businessmen. Now, what will happen to Karan? Will Vishal be able to prove Karan’s innocence and get after the culprits?

Vishal (Rishi Kapoor) had the whole world in his pocket, as his elder brother Karan (Shashi Kapoor), provided him with anything on earth for the mere asking. And Karan could keep the world in his pocket, as long as Mrs. Robins (Nadira) his loving, self-adopted keeper, abetted him in the innocent deceit. For in reality, he was a poor trapeze artiste, and not the rich tycoon his brother thought him to be. . Ironically, Vishal was destined to fall in love with Neeta (Neetu Singh), whose millionaire father, Gulabchand would accept Vishal only ifh is brother was a rich man. Fortunately for Vishal Diwanchand (Agha) befriended Karan, and his palatial home came to be the venue of Vishals engagement with Neeta, the ceremony being conducted in regal splendour. . The circus owner, although impressed by Karan and his partner Ravats (Ranjeet) daring trapeze feat, regretfully refused to lend Karan that sizeable amount. On the other hand, neither would Karan accept Mrs Robins gesture. . However, the trapeze feat inspired a smuggler (Pinchoo Kapoor) who negotiated with Ravat. But Ravat alone was not enough for executing the design of the smuggler. Ravat concocted the sentimental story to rope in Karan. Innocent Karan became a party to a robbery and a murder, which also led to hisbeing cruelly cripled. . The robber and murder let the world out of the pockets of Karan, Vishal and Neeta.
