Durga Puja is a 1962 Indian Bollywood devotional film released on 1962. The film is directed by Adarsh, music composed by Shivram.
King Chandan Singh of Narayanpur was desirous of a male heir to his throne so his queen exchanged her new-born daughter with the son of the minister. Thinking the princess to be a thorn in his side, the minister ordered her to be killed but she was saved by a sage and grew up in his hermitage as Chandanbala. She was a great devotee of goddess Durga who had appeared to her and given her the power to help the poor. Princess Bhanumati was jealous of the growing popularity of Chandabala and sent many people to kill her but every time Goddess Durga saved Chandanbala. . In Narayanpur the ministers son who was growing up as the prince dethroned the king with the help of the minister. The poor king reached the hermitage of Chandanbala but could not see her as she was in the clutches of Bhanumati and her magician uncle.
