Story


Dus Lakh is a 1966 Indian Bollywood comedy, musical, family drama, social film released on Jan 01, 1966. The film is directed by D. C. Goel, produced by Devendra Goel under banner named Goel Cine Corp.

This is the story of father Gokulchand and his 2 sons - Manohar & Kishore (Ramesh Deo & Sanjay Khan). Manohar is married to Devaki. The family lives happily together. Gokulchand receives Rs.10 lakhs from his ancestors and he goes to Kashmir to meet Jerry & Kitty. Manorama tries to fall in love with Gokulchand. When he returns from Kashmir he throws all his family out. Seema loses her friend's expensive necklace and they try to collect money for the necklace. Manorama meets with an accident and gets admited in the hospital. Gokulchand does not spare any money for his sons as he thinks that they are cheats. The entire family then prays to God to open his eyes to the true story that Jerry & Kitty are the cheats & that their plan of stealing 5 lakhs rupees has failed. In the end the family reunites again and Jerry & Kitty are put behind bars for cheating Gokulchand.


Lala Gokulchand (Om Prakash) is a small shop-keeper always yearning for big money. But hs family of two sons, Manohar and Kishore (Ramesh and Sanjay) Manohars wife Devki (Seema) and two grand-children are perfectly happy on small income from the shop and Manohars modest salary as a clerk. . In this mood of chronic discontent, Gokulchand meets Jerry (Pran) a get-rich-quick artist, making an affluent living by his wits. He persuades Gokulchand to buy a lottery ticket, but the high hopes crash when the results announced. Fate, however, smiles on the aspirant to wealth when a rich cousin dies in Bombay and leaves all his money to Gokulchand. . Jerry meets the newly rich shopekeeper at a hill station and entagles him with the golddigging Mrs. Little (Manorama) who was a pretty daughter Kitty (Helen) and a son named William (Brahmachari). Jerry and Mrs. Little manage to convince the bemused millionaire that his family is out to get his money and he promptly disowns them. Menawhile Kishore is in love with a working girl, Reeta by name (Babita) and for their engagement Devki borrows a costly necklace from a friend. . This is lost and gets in to the hands of Jerry. To eke out a livelihood and also to replace the necklace, Manohar and the rest of the family labour hard and live a wretched life. . But the situation changes dramatically, and how? See on screen.
