Life is like playing the violin solo in public where you have to learn the instrument as you play. . The death of a rich father even otherwise, is no ordinaty an incident in a sons life, but when tha old man leaves behind countless millions and the only son happens to be none other than the young and carefree Moti- what happens then is beyond the description of words. . On one of his aimless wanderings, Moti with his friend Hiralal had run into a beauty in distress and risking his own life had rescued this unnerved and unconscious young lady, Roma, from the jawa of death. When he had brought her in this state to his house for mediacal aid, fate had dalt with him ironically. Whereas this incident had created a misunderstanding and brought Moti into bad books with Romas father, Rai Sahib Mansukh lal. However, the obstacles and restrictions inflicted by the father had only fanned this spark of affection into flames of love. The young lovers resolved to get married and ultimately after many amusing episodes this musunderstanding had been cleared and the parents consented to Moti and Romas marriage. The great day had fixed but just when everthing was set for Moti to lead a sobered famuly life, his old father succumbed to his last illness. The marriage perforce had to be post-poned. . Along with the unexhaustable welth, Moti received from his dying father, a few words of advice, three to be exact, the essence of a lifetimes experience of a seasoned grey-head. But like any other son of Adam and Eve he could not resist the temptation of tasting the for bidden fruit. . Moti with his firend Hiralal sets out to experiment with "The Three Donts of Life". First the bottle was espoused. It was fun while it lasted but like a scorpion the daughter of vine has the sting in its tail, and sure enough she kicked them to trouble and ultimately to jail. Tha old man was not wrong about driinking, the youngster realized, so they started with the second and braved their way to woman of easy virtues. For sometime Moti was dazzled with the innocent charm of a paticular gold - digger but when he gave her an unexpected visit at daybreak, oh! boy! was he shocked at the metamorphosis that takes place at the dawn light in the sight of the false wig, the cotton padding, the false teeth, the synthetic complexion and sagging figure. How correctly the wise father knew these sellers of love thought Moti. . Some time later, in a fit of temper Moti had treated Hiralal to the butchers knife. There were no traces of Hiralal of his body to be foung anywhere. The only other living soul in the know of this happening was Motis own beloved and bride-to-be Roma who had heard the shrieks of the dying Hiralal and seen Moti hiding his blood soaked clothes. The secret was safe enough but Roma was a woman after all and woman cannot contain a secret. It made her ill and she was cured only when in good faith she passed the secret on to Asha, her bossom friend Now Asha was sick in her turn and the inemitable happened. Ashas husband who was a Police Superintendent was told in turn and Moti was arrested for murder...at the trial, Moti to the surprise of all insisted on conducting his own defence. He had a card up his sleeve- only he knew where Hiralal was gallivanting in disguise. They had put on this act of murder only to try his fathers third advice and that was never to tell your secret to a woman, not even your own wife. So when the sentende was passed and the gallows stared him in the face he sent for Hiralal but he did not know that the joke had gone too far. He learnt something his father had omitted to tell him and that was that one cannot play fast and loose with a court of justice. Big or small, every one is the same in the eyes of law. . Hiralal on the other hand had been caught in a cyclone of love with a stage star. . The time for hanging Moti approached, poor Roma, had to face all possible hazzards in the chase after Hiralal - she had to steal a train, drive a bus, ride a runaway raileay trolly and abscond with an aeroplane.
